The Altona Beach Market is a highlight of neighbourhood life.
Held every Tuesday from 9am-3pm in Pier St, Railway St and Logan Reserve, it sells everything from fresh eggs, fruit and vegies to plants, jewellery, children’s clothing, sarongs and handmade soap. There is even a tarot reader and occasionally, a children’s farm in Logan Reserve.
Quoting from this newspapers article appearing in The Age: “…..When we arrive a little after 2pm, the sun is shining. It is market day. Stalls are set up in the main street selling vegetables, eggs, home-made cakes, Dutch pancakes. I walk along the pier, enjoying the sea air, the milky blue of the sea and sky. Kirkwood is right: it is good to be in Altona……..”
