The Hobsons Bay Fishing Club, started in December 1995 with 35 members, used to conduct its meetings in the Altona Scout Group Hall at Civic Parade, Altona. On 28 August 2001, the Hobsons Bay City Council approved the construction of a club building on W.G. Cresser Reserve. Now, it has grown to over 200 members.
